Coll del Moro: Monolith wird abgetragen.

Am Coll del Moro in der Provinz Tarragona (Katalonien) steht nach wie vor ein 1953 errichteter Monolith, der an den Ort erinnert, von dem aus Franco persönlich den Endangriff in der Ebroschlacht geleitet haben soll.

Nun hat der Präsident der Diputació de Tarragona (Provinzregierung), Josep Poblet (CDC), angekündigt, dass das Monument zur Gänze abgetragen werden soll. Die Fläche, auf der sich der Monolith befindet, gehört der Diputació, welche sie nach seiner Schleifung an die Gemeinde Gandesa abgeben will.

Die Gemeindeverwaltung will das Grundstück in ein angrenzendes archäologisches Grabungsfeld einbinden, wodurch der bisherige Charakter des Ortes endgültig verloren gehen wird. Oder wie es Josep Poblet Medienvertretern gegenüber formulierte: »Es wird keine Spur mehr übrigbleiben«.
