For all these reasons, we call on our fellow citizens in other countries to condemn the authoritarian logic and actions that is being mobilized in Catalonia at this moment; the type of logic and action that has so often eroded the lives of modern political societies. In particular, we urge our European neighbors to speak up in favor of holding a referendum in Catalonia to be both a concrete instrument to overcome the authoritarian logic that has so often destroyed the lives of modern political societies and, from a European perspective, a way to move towards a post-national political culture in which conflicts of this sort can be decided through non-violent procedures.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Auszug aus einem <a title=\"Appell.\" href=\"https:\/\/referendumnotwar.wordpress.com\/english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Appell<\/a>, den bislang 165 Unterst\u00fctzer aus einem vornehmlich wissenschaftlich-universit\u00e4ren Umfeld aus fast 30 L\u00e4ndern unterschrieben haben<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Es sind mehrheitlich Professorinnen und Professoren renommierter Universit\u00e4ten (unter anderem Yale, Stanford, Berkeley, Camebridge, King\u2019s College und Princeton), die sich f\u00fcr die Abhaltung des Referendums in Katalonien aussprechen. Sie begr\u00fcnden dies damit, dass die Abkehr von staatlicher Willk\u00fcr und das demokratische Streben die Grundlage f\u00fcr die Entwicklung des europ\u00e4ischen Rechtsstaates waren. Und anders als zahlreiche Kommentatoren \u2014 auch hierzulande \u2014 sehen die Unterzeichner im gegenw\u00e4rtigen Prozess keine R\u00fcckkehr in die Kleinstaaterei oder gar eine Gegenbewegung zur europ\u00e4ischen Integration.
