Aktion Google Maps (II).

Wir bitten wieder um zahlreiche Beteiligung!

Google Maps.

Can you please also inform your friends/neighbours in South Tirol with this* information.

Hier also der Text:

Dear ladies and gentlemen!

I am an inhabitant of South Tyrol (Bozen) and during the use of Google Maps I have noticed there are only italian place names. TeleAtlas, the firm responsible for the data, affirmed they are delivering maps with both german and italian placenames to you. I’d like to inform you of the following: Place names in South Tyrol are officially bilingual (german and italian) and in most places the german name is much more used than the italian version. As well, there are places with ladin names, which also don’t appear on your maps. However, these names are officially and publically used, also in (i.e.) tourism. That’s why I ask you to consider adding the german and ladin toponyms in South Tyrol to your maps urgently. This would highly enhance the usability and user friendliness of your products as well as proof your respect for our local reality. Think about people referring to other services just because they won’t find what they are looking for on your maps, or local investors not really enthousiastic about putting their ads and services on Google Maps, because the cartography is almost useless.

I hope I will soon find the missing placenames on your maps!

Thanks for your attention, sincerely
